What a great Memorial Day we had this year. I decided this year we should go and do something for Memorial Day. We decided to go to Fiesta Texas. So on Sunday, our 12 year anniversary, we were at the park as soon as they opened and spent the day having fun. Both kids were able to ride all the kid rides either by themselves or with an adult, so they were at the perfect height. I must say that I was not sure what to expect with the kids, but quickly realized that they were quite content at just being there. We headed to one of the kid sections first and did the kids version of the log ride. I realized that I was dragging Delaney behind me. As I stopped to figure out what was wrong, I realized that she was looking around at everything larger than life. She was wide eyed and full of wonderment. She also was very brave and willing to do so many things - again and again and again. It was all about the rides for her - everyone she saw. Blaine wanted to do anything and everything. He and John were out in front leading our family around.
A funny story about Delaney. She was quite intrigued by all of the characters, but did not want to do anything but say hi. As the day continued and as Blaine continued to give hugs to all the characters, D decided it was her turn. So every character we saw during the last 2 hours, she wanted to hug and get her picture taken. She continues to talk about not getting her picture taken with "that boy", i.e. Shaggy. Here is a collage of our day (just click on the picture to see each one better).
Let me tell you, we opened and closed the park. Who knew the kids would last that long (and without a stroller-guess we can get rid of that now??). We unfortunately had rain right after lunch so we were only able to spend an hour in the water park, but that was actually just the perfect amount of time for the kids. During the rain we were waiting to get our drinks refilled and this is how Delaney was able to last all day... Now if you know anything about D then you realize this was such a treat for me. My kids sleep in their beds and in their rooms. If they don't have that, then they are not sleeping. What a cutie!!A funny story about Delaney. She was quite intrigued by all of the characters, but did not want to do anything but say hi. As the day continued and as Blaine continued to give hugs to all the characters, D decided it was her turn. This was suppose to be the last ride, the kids ferris wheel. But while going around we saw a Scooby Doo indoor roller coaster. B just had to ride. So we said sure one more. Oh to have that much energy when you obviously feel like this...
A funny story about Blaine, he begged to play the "midway" games. You know the ones that you pay $5 for and never actually win? Well in the kid areas apparently everyone wins. B did a great job and won a red dragon for himself and we talked him into winning a tweety bird for D. Then as we left he BEGGED to win a cape. So again everyone wins right...they played a water race together and both won capes. Here they are all dressed up and having fun after we got home. Who knew?? Now this is a first for D, she NEVER plays dress up. I guess she is always too busy chasing after B. Let's see how long $5 capes from Fiesta Texas last!! What a great family fun time we spent together. I don't think we could think of a better way to spend our 12 year anniversary than with the family. Maybe we will leave the kids at home next year.
