Science Project

A week before school ended, Blaine had to do his first class presentation.  They had to pick an insect, research 10 facts and make a visual.  I personally disliked these class presentations growing up, but Blaine had a blast.  He loved researching his facts both at school and at home.  (It is a surreal experience having your kid ask if he can "google" something on my phone/computer!)

He choose a praying mantis.  His visual was a model.  We were eating at Rosatti's one night and the kids were playing with Wikkistix (I highly suggest these if you ever have to wait anywhere.  My kids play with these during church and at restaurants all the time).  Blaine made a praying mantis.  So the idea of a model for his insect was born. 

There are some perks to having your daddy own a metal shop.  Blaine used copper wire to shape his praying mantis.  He used his Wikkistix creation as his model and away he went.  We had to help with the hot glue to make sure everything stayed in place.

He received 10 out of 10 points for his presentation.  Way to go Blaine!!  You worked hard and did a great job.  May you always have your Dad's creativity as you progress through school.

So Long 2nd Grade

The end of May brought the end of school for Blaine.  What an exciting and challenging year it has been.  Blaine had a great time with Miss Koontz and I am sure that she learned a thing or two from this class in her first year of teaching. The last week of school they wrote about their experiences this year...



1. My favorite thing about this year was going to U.I.L. (He was asked to compete in Storytelling.  They were able to travel to Malone ISD in the Fall for the competition.)

2. What I didn't like it when I had to miss 2 days of school. (Poor kid inherited by sinus and allergy issues)
3. I got really good at math this year.
4. In 3rd grade I hope to get really good at math.
5. The most important thing I learned was about the Civil War.
6. I found friendship with Eric, Elisha and Rene.  (I must say that these 4 boys were quite the group during their many soccer games at recess.)

Last day of school was "School Spirit" day

On the last day of school Miss Koontz gave out awards to everyone in class.  Blaine was super excited about his "Most Eager Learner".  I wish I could explain how proud he was about this award.  I think it just might sit on his awards shelf in his room for awhile.  Of course his buddy Elisha received "Most Athletic" which absolutely fits since that boy NEVER sits still and NEVER seems to run out of energy until he crashes at night.

Blaine - Daddy and I are so proud of how hard you worked this year.  We have loved watching you as your love of reading grows and when you begin to understand new concepts.  We love being able to carry on conversations with you and gently molding your negotiation skills.  May the Lord continue to foster in you the love you have for Jesus, books, friends and learning.  We love you - Dad, Mom and Delaney.

Delaney's Last Day of Preschool

Wow, the end of an era in my family.  My youngest is officially finished with preschool and our family is finished with RCC.  What sweet sorrow as our family has been faithfully going to "Tuesday/Thursday" school at Robinson Church of Christ Preschool since August of 2005!!

They always have graduation on the Wednesday night before the official last day of school.  Big Girl ready to go in and graduate!!

The theme this year was God is Not Finished With Me Yet.  This was quite the appropriate theme since RCC underwent major updating and reconstruction this year.  They sang "He's Still Working on Me" and Delaney's favorite song from Devo time "Saw, Saw, Saw".  This was also one of Blaine's first songs he began singing from RCC too.

They asked all the kids what they want to be when they grow up.  Delaney's answer, "a babysitter, a fire fighter, a ballerina and a ballet teacher".  What a busy girl she will be!

Mrs. Cyndi Anderson.  What an amazing teacher.  Her first year at RCC was with Blaine.  She still says that he helped show her the ropes.  Needless to say we wanted Delaney to have the same great experience and asked to be placed in her room this year.  Fortunately Mrs. Cyndi had already requested Delaney to be with her!!  Mrs. Cyndi you have been such a blessing to both of our children.  Thank you for loving them unconditionally and encouraging them to grow, develop and mature in your classroom.  Thank you for preparing them for Kindergarten in such a loving and Godly manner.  We will miss you this next year.

 Delaney what a year this has been for you.  You are beginning to read, you love to socialize, laugh and be silly.  You have learned to tie your shoes and be more independent.  You have a definite opinion about many and all things.  One of these things is your haircut - which this Mommy has had to release.  It is very cute, but Mommy would still love to see it long and straight like hers when she was little.

 Our celebration would not be complete without a trip to 3 Spoons.  We love you Delaney and are excited to see what Kindergarten has in store for you next year.
